In an initiative to bring focus on design strategies for achieving competitive advantage and enhanced business success, National Institute of Design (NID) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) are jointly organising the second ''Design Summit'' on December 3 and 4, 2002, at the India Habitat Centre, in the Capital.
According to executive director, NID, Darlie O Koshy, "The summit is part of NID''s objective to put design on the national agenda and to encourage the industry to create design solutions specific to the needs of developing countries."
The two-day summit is targeted at business development managers, designers, representatives from the industry, R&D scientists and engineers, technocrats, entrepreneurs, government officials, policy makers and even academicians.
The summit aims to address pertinent issues related to design and industry interface such as design competency for business; managing design development, creating an enabling environment for design and innovation; protection and enforcement of industrial designs; designing for global opportunities-corporate perspectives; and IT for design.
Speaking on the occasion, chairman, CII National Committee on Technology and Innovation, Hari S Bhartia said: "If Indian industries have arrived at the stage where they want to control the intellectual property, the design aspect, then they have to get into innovation."
